We are delighted to unveil a new limited edition 22 year old ‘Distillery of the Year’ expression that pays homage to our award win at the Scottish Whisky Awards.
In 2021, Glen Scotia was named both Scotland’s Distillery of the Year at the Scottish Whisky Awards, and Best in Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. To celebrate this incredible honour, we selected and bottled a small amount of his finest reserves from first fill bourbon barrels, chosen for their representation of our award winning distillery character.
Each new accolade is a testament not only to Glen Scotia but to our region’s long history of whisky production. The resurgence of interest and appreciation for Campbeltown’s style of single malt whiskies is truly a wonderful thing to witness. This very special bottling is a toast to the community that have helped Glen Scotia prevail through the years.
The new release has been beautifully presented in a premium striking blue tube which includes an elevated bottle with a shoulder coin and heavy base.
It is a perfect representation of the signature Glen Scotia style, matured in first-fill bourbon casks and offering the classic tropical fruit and oily coastal notes you’d expect from a Campbeltown Single Malt Whisky. It was bottled in May at cask strength 54.8% and without added colour.
Only 500 bottles of this rare 22 year old liquid are available globally with 25 bottles available via ballot. Limited to one entry per person, the ballot will run between Thursday 18th August (17:00hrs) and Sunday 4th September (23.59hrs) find out more. The remaining bottles will be available in highly limited numbers via whisky specialist retailers worldwide.
Iain McAlister, our Master Distiller at Glen Scotia, and the team at the distillery have been central to the recent success, working with casks carefully cared for over the years by a talented team passionate about keeping the Campbeltown story alive.
